Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Before first use, install batteries or connect the AC adapter.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  2. Insert 4 AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) markings.
  3. Close the cover securely.
  4. Alternatively, plug the AC adapter into the jack on the back of the unit and then into a wall outlet.
  5. The display will show all segments briefly, then the date and time setup screen will appear.
  6. Use the START/STOP and Memory buttons to set the current date and time.

CAUTION! Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline and other types of batteries. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for 3 months or more.

Applying the Cuff

Correct cuff application is essential for an accurate reading.

  1. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Rest for 5 minutes before measuring.
  2. Remove tight clothing from your upper arm.
  3. Pass the end of the cuff through the metal D-ring to form a loop. The cuff should not be twisted.
  4. Place the cuff on your bare upper arm so the air tube runs down the center of your arm, aligned with your middle finger.
  5. The bottom edge of the cuff should be 1-2 cm (0.5-1 inch) above your elbow.
  6. Secure the cuff snugly, but not too tight (you should be able to fit one finger underneath).
  7. Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at the same level as your heart.

Tip: Always use the same arm for measurements. Measurements can vary between arms.

Taking a Measurement

Remain still and quiet during the measurement.

  1. Press the User Select button (I or II) to choose your memory profile.
  2. Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will begin to inflate automatically.
  3. Remain still, do not talk, and keep your arm relaxed until the measurement is complete.
  4. The cuff will deflate automatically. Your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed.
  5. The reading will be stored automatically in memory for the selected user.
  6. To turn the unit off, press the START/STOP button again, or it will turn off automatically after 1 minute.

WARNING! Do not inflate the cuff more than necessary. The IntelliSense system determines the optimal pressure.
