Parts Identification

Familiarize yourself with the main components of the monitor.

  1. Main Unit: Contains the display, control buttons, and internal pump.
  2. Display: Shows systolic/diastolic pressure, pulse, icons, and memory data.
  3. START/STOP Button: Initiates and stops the measurement.
  4. Memory Button (M): Accesses and reviews stored readings.
  5. Cuff with D-Ring: Wraps around the upper arm. The air tube connects to the left side of the unit.
  6. AC Adapter Jack: For connecting the optional AC adapter (model EA11A).
  7. Battery Compartment: Holds 4 AA batteries.

CAUTION! Ensure the cuff tube is securely connected to the main unit before use.

Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Power on the monitor and set the date/time.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  2. Insert 4 new AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the cover. The display will show all segments briefly, then the date/time setting mode.
  4. Use the START/STOP button to increase values and the Memory (M) button to move between settings (Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, 12/24hr format).
  5. After setting the last item, the monitor will exit setup mode and is ready for use.

Tip: For consistent power, Omron recommends using the optional AC adapter (sold separately).

Applying the Cuff

Correct cuff placement is essential for an accurate reading.

  1. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
  2. Place your left arm through the cuff loop. The bottom edge of the cuff should be 1-2 cm above your elbow.
  3. Secure the cuff snugly around your bare upper arm using the D-Ring fabric fastener. You should be able to fit one finger between the cuff and your arm.
  4. Ensure the air tube runs down the center of your arm, aligned with your middle finger.
  5. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.

WARNING! Do not apply the cuff over clothing. Tight sleeves should be rolled up, not constricting the arm.

Taking a Measurement

Follow these steps for a proper reading.

  1. Relax: Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring.
  2. Apply the cuff correctly as described in Section 6.
  3. Press the START/STOP button. All display icons will appear, and the cuff will begin to inflate automatically.
  4. Remain still and quiet with your arm relaxed and supported. The cuff will inflate and then gradually deflate.
  5. Your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed when the measurement is complete.
  6. The cuff will deflate fully. You may now remove it.

Note: If a body movement or irregular heartbeat is detected, an icon will appear. Remain still and take another reading.
