Parts Identification
Familiarize yourself with the main components.
- Main Unit: Contains display, control buttons, and air hose connector.
- Arm Cuff: Includes D-ring, cloth wrap, and air tube. Cuff circumference range: 22-42 cm.
- AC Adapter Jack: Located on the side of the main unit.
- Battery Compartment: Holds 4 AA batteries (located on the bottom).
- Display: Shows systolic/diastolic pressure, pulse, date, time, user indicator, and error symbols.
CAUTION! Use only the provided cuff or an Omron-approved replacement cuff. Using an incorrect cuff may result in inaccurate readings.
Initial Setup & Battery Installation
Power on the device; set date and time.
- Install Batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 4 new AA batteries observing polarity, close cover.
- Set Date/Time: Press the CLOCK button. Use the MEMORY button to select value and START/STOP to adjust. Press CLOCK to confirm.
- Select User: Press the USER button to toggle between User 1 and User 2 for memory storage.
- Connect AC Adapter (Optional): Plug adapter into jack on unit and into wall outlet. Unit will operate on AC power; batteries are not used.
CAUTION! Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
Applying the Cuff
- Preparation: Rest for 5 minutes before measuring. Avoid caffeine, exercise, and smoking for 30 minutes prior.
- Position: Sit on a chair with feet flat on the floor. Rest arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
- Application: Slide arm through cuff loop. Place cuff 1-2 cm above elbow with air tube aligned over inner arm. Wrap cuff snugly around arm.
Tip: The cuff should be tight enough that only one finger fits between cuff and arm. Do not roll up tight sleeves.
Taking a Measurement
Remain still and quiet during measurement.
- Press the START/STOP button. All display symbols will appear briefly.
- The cuff will inflate automatically. The monitor determines the proper inflation level.
- As the cuff deflates, your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate are measured and displayed.
- Measurement is complete when cuff deflates fully. Press the START/STOP button to turn the unit off.
- The reading is automatically stored in memory for the selected user.
WARNING! Do not move your arm or body during measurement. Do not inflate the cuff when it is not wrapped around your arm.
Understanding the Display
Access OSD via TV MENU or SETUP (DVD). Front Panel: POWER, OPEN/CLOSE, AUTO/DPMS, MUTE.
Symbols:
- SYS / DIA / PULSE: Numerical values for systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate.
- User Icon (1 or 2): Indicates which user's memory is active.
- Irregular Heartbeat Symbol: Appears if an irregular rhythm is detected.
- Body Movement Symbol: Appears if excessive movement is detected.
- Hypertension Indicator: Appears if systolic reading is ≥135 mmHg or diastolic is ≥85 mmHg.
- AVG: Displayed when viewing average readings.
- Low Battery Icon: Appears when batteries need replacement.
Memory Function
Stores up to 100 readings for each of two users.
- View Memory: Press the MEMORY button. The most recent reading appears with a "M" symbol.
- Scroll: Press MEMORY again to scroll through previous readings. The display shows reading number, values, date, and time.
- View Average: While in memory mode, press and hold the MEMORY button for 3 seconds to display the average of the last 3 readings taken within 10 minutes.
- Clear Memory: To clear all memory for the current user, remove all batteries, wait 1 minute, then reinstall batteries while holding down the MEMORY button.
