Safety Information

  1. Do not use on infants, small children, or persons who cannot express themselves.
  2. Do not use while operating a vehicle or machinery.

  4. Do not inflate the cuff when it is not wrapped around your arm.
  5. Keep the device and cuff away from high temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight, and dust.

Parts Identification

Familiarize yourself with the device components.

  1. Main Unit: Contains display, control buttons, and internal pump.
  2. Display: Shows systolic/diastolic pressure, pulse, icons, and memory.
  3. START/STOP Button: Initiates and stops measurement.
  4. Arm Cuff: Includes cloth wrap, inner bladder, metal D-ring, and Velcro.
  5. Air Tube: Connects cuff to main unit.
  6. Battery Compartment: Holds 4 AA batteries.
  7. AC Adapter Jack: For optional external power.
  8. Memory Button: Recalls stored readings.

CAUTION! Do not bend or kink the air tube, as this can affect accuracy.

Initial Setup & Battery Installation

Power on the device; ensure proper setup.

  1. Install batteries: Open compartment on back, insert 4 AA batteries observing polarity.
  2. AC Adapter (optional): Plug adapter into jack on side of unit, then into wall outlet.
  3. Initial display test: The display will show all segments briefly when batteries are inserted.
  4. Date/Time (if applicable): Some models allow setting; refer to specific model guide.

Tip: Use fresh alkaline batteries for best performance. Remove batteries if not using for 3+ months.

Applying the Cuff

Proper cuff placement is critical for accurate readings.

Taking a Measurement

Follow these steps for a proper reading.

  1. Prepare: Avoid eating, smoking, exercising, or bathing 30 minutes before. Rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Position: Sit in a chair as described in "Applying the Cuff."
  3. Connect: Plug air tube into port on side of main unit until it clicks.
  4. Start: Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will inflate automatically.
  5. Remain Still: Do not move, talk, or tense your arm during measurement.
  6. Reading: Systolic, diastolic, and pulse readings will display. Cuff deflates automatically.
  7. Record: The reading is stored in memory automatically.
  8. Power Off: Device turns off automatically after 1 minute.

WARNING! Do not inflate cuff more than necessary. IntelliSense controls this automatically.

Memory Function

Stores and recalls past readings.

  1. Automatic Storage: Each reading is stored automatically until memory is full (14 readings).
  2. View Memory: Press the MEMORY button. The most recent reading displays.
  3. Scroll: Press MEMORY again to scroll through previous readings in reverse chronological order.
  4. Average: Some models display the average of the last 3 readings taken in the last 10 minutes.
  5. Clearing Memory: Memory clears automatically when batteries are removed or when 14 readings are exceeded (oldest is deleted).

Note: Memory is not user-resettable. For multiple users, consider using a logbook.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug AC adapter or remove batteries before cleaning.

  1. Main Unit: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasives.
  2. Cuff: Can be hand-washed in mild soapy water. Air dry completely before use. Do not machine wash, dry clean, iron, or tumble dry.
  3. Air Tube: Wipe with dry cloth. Do not bend sharply or pull forcefully.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Do not store with cuff tightly wrapped.

CAUTION! Never immerse main unit in water or any liquid. Do not disassemble.
